Supergraphic Artists

The large-format screen prints, which were created by artists Ojārs Pētersons, Juris Putrāms, Andris Breže, Kristaps Ģelzis, Indulis Gailāns, Normunds Lācis and Vilnis Putrāms characteristically had metaphorical titles, dynamic composition, a poster-like quality, addressed the viewer directly, had a disproportionate presentation of figures and an expressiveness of form, which well suited this technique and the large dimensions of the work surface. They spoke ironically about the tenets of ideology and the state of affairs, resonated with the current processes in society and politics, and expressed their own individual mood which had also simultaneously become the collective mood which vibrated all around.
