Within the framework of the book art competition "Zelta ābele 2007" polling was carried out among librarians and readers of Latvian municipal public libraries for the most popular books that were published in 2007. Among the best valued books the following were published by "Neputns":
nomination "Latvian poetry"- in the 1st place: Agnese Krivade "Bērnība", in the 3rd place: Ieva Rupenheite "Melnas krelles", in the 4th place: Žebers "Šņabji/Blaknes";
nomination "Latvian prose" - in the 3rd place: Tālis Tisenkopfs "Uzburtā vieta"
nomination "Scientific literature" - in the 1st place: Imants Lancmanis "Heraldika";
nomination "Art publications" - in the 3rd place: Dace Lamberga "Jēkabs Kazaks", in the 4th place: Renāte Blumberga "The Life of Livs", in the 5th place: Aija Brasliņa "Edgars Iltners".

[21.04.2008] The Best Designed Book of the Year 2007

At the annual competition of book design "The Best Designed Book of the Year 2007", organized by the Latvian Publishers’ Association, among 47 publications by 22 Publishing Houses that were nominated for the competition by the jury, 10 were Publishers' "Neputns" editions. Among the winners in the nomination "Latvian poetry" was artist Guntars Sietiņš for the design of Ieva Rupenheite's collection of poetry "Melnas krelles". Special award of the jury went to Liene Drāzniece and Ieva Arāja for creative daring in the artistic solution of Agnese Krivade's collection of poetry "Bērnība". Publishers "Neputns" was awarded a special prize of the Riga City Council for Dace Lamberga's monograph "Jēkabs Kazaks" (artist Ģirts Muižnieks).

[17.03.2008] Award of the Year in Literature goes to our authors

On 15 March 2008 the Writers Union of Latvia presented Awards of the Year 2007 in Literature. Among the awarded writers and poets there were also two of our authors: Žebers was awarded for his collection of poems "Šnabji/Blaknes" in the category "The best collection of poetry" but Tālis Tisenkopfs received a special prize for the collection of essays "Uzburta vieta" as a brilliant work in the genre of essays. Both books were published by "Neputns" in 2007. 

[22.02.2008] Neputns at the Baltic Book Fair 2008

From 28 February to 2 March 2008 the 11th International Exhibition of books, publishing and printing, Baltic Book Fair 2008, will be held at the International Exhibition Centre in Ķīpsala, Riga.
On Saturday, 1 March at 11.00am our publishing house is going to present the newest publication – a bilingual collection of poems in Latvian and Russian, "Jura Kunnosa X". The book is compiled and translated by poets Amanda Aizpuriete and Sergei Moreino.

[19.02.2008] Exhibition of Latvian photography in Moscow

Photo exhibition PRIVATE: Contemporary photography from Latvia was opened in contemporary art center WINZAVOD, Moscow on 19 February. Exhibition curated by Alise Tīfentāle, editor-in-chief of magazine „Foto Kvartāls”. Artists: Arnis Balčus, Gunārs Binde, Zenta Dzividzinska, Roman Korovin, Inta Ruka, Alnis Stakle, Vilnis Vītoliņš. Exhibition takes place within the framework of festival „Season of Latvian culture in Russia” and Seventh international photo-month in Moscow „Photobiennial 2008”.

[25.04.2007] Honorary mention of the Ministry of Culture to the collection of poetry by Knuts Skujenieks

Within the framework of the annual book design competition „Zelta ābele 2006”,  the closing ceremony taking place on 20 April 2007, the Publishers NEPUTNS received honorary mention of the Latvian Ministry of Culture for the collection of poetry "tagad es esmu aleksandrs" by Knuts Skujenieks. The book was published in 2006, designed by Zane Ērnštreite.

[25.04.2007] Our book - among the best designed books of the world!

This year, among 49 books nominated for the international book design competition "Best Designed Books from all over the World", in Leipzig, included is also translation into Latvian of Rainer Maria Rilke's collection of poetry "Stundu grāmata. Gleznu un tēlu grāmata" (Book of Hours. Books of Images), Designed by Ingrīda Zābere and published by NEPUTNS in 2005. Please, see our book catalogue under the category LITERATURE.

[20.11.2006] Launching of the book "Borders"

Launching of the book “Borders” took place on 15 November 2006 at the National Museum of Zurich during the literary evening dedicated to Latvian poets Rainis and Aspazija. Presentations were made by the compiler and one of the authors of the book Ms. Vita Matiss and Margherita Albisetti from Lugano City Archive; poems of Rainis and Aspazija in German were read by H.P.Treihler.

[12.09.2006] Days of Poetry Prize 2006

The Days of Poetry Prize 2006 has been awarded to Liāna Langa for the collection of poems “Antenu burtnīca” (“Notebook of Antennae”), published this year by “Neputns”. Congratulations to Liāna Langa for joining the circle of the “Neputns” authors – laureates of the Days of Poetry Prize! In 2004 the prize was awarded to Ronalds Briedis for the collection of poems “Asaru gāze” (“Tear Gas”), but in 2005 – Pēters Brūveris for the collection of poems “Valodas ainava” (“Landscape of Language”).

[25.04.2006] Joe. Life and Art of Jāzeps Grosvalds

In the frame of the 115th anniversary celebrations of painter Jāzeps Grosvalds launching of the monograph by Eduards Kļaviņš will take place on 27th April 2006 at 17.00 at the Riga Gallery.
The celebrations programme includes: opening of the memorial plaque dedicated to painter Jāzeps Grosvalds, head of the Riga Latvian Society (1886-1919) Frīdrihs Grosvalds, art historian and diplomat Oļģerds Grosvalds and promoter of national applied art Mērija Grīnberga (nee Grosvalde) in Riga, Aspazijas Boulevard 20;
opening of the exhibition “Jāzeps Grosvalds. In Life and War” at the Riga Gallery.

[19.10.2005] Classical Modernism in Latvian Painting in French

In the frame of the Latvian culture festival in France "Etonnante Lettonie" (Surprising Latvia) launching of the book “Le Modernisme Classique. La peinture lettone au début de XXe siècle” by Dace Lamberga will take place on 9th November 2005 in the Visual Arts Museum of Bordo as part of the opening of the exhibition “Avant-garde en Lettonie: 1915-1940”.
